STEVE MEAD ANNIVERSARY

lemeadSaturday 15th May marks a year since we lost our friend and colleague Steve Mead after his 21-month battle with acute Adult Lymphoblastic Leukaemia.

Steve’s attitude and determination during his fight is something that we should all admire and I ask that you please take a moment to remember Steve and the way he remained so positive despite the journey he endured.

During that time Le Mead was initially created to give Steve something to fight for and look forward to during his treatment. Since then it has grown to become a recognised label and we have formed a fantastic partnership with the Geoff Thomas Foundation charity. (www.geoffthomasfoundation.com)

Le Mead is now all about keeping Steve’s name and memory alive and raising as much money as possible to help with the fight against this awful illness.

I am proud to continue my work with Le Mead and make it is big as possible and I feel that it is an appropriate time to remind everyone of this years efforts. I ask you all to continue to support us and attend as many of the events as possible to help raise money for Le Mead. It is a really busy year and we hope we have something for everyone.

2010’s efforts will finish with Team Le Mead taking on the Stelvio for Stevo and completing the hardest Le Mead challenge so far and cycling 300 miles across the Dolomite region of the Alps as we ride from Venice to Milan via Switzerland.

GEOFF RALLIES CYCLISTS FOR CHARITY

Geoff is rallying cyclists to join his team for this summer’s London-Paris 2010 cycle challenge (24 – 27 June) to raise money for his Foundation.

Geoff is looking to recruit a team of 25 riders to join him for the challenge which is recognised as THE professional event for amateur riders.  The ride covers around 550km in three days, with a rest day in Paris.   Cyclists enjoy full logistical support, with rolling road closures and motorbike outriders.   It is the closest the amateur rider can get to the Tour de France experience and The L2P is now the blue riband event of cyclosportives.

The event was the idea of Cheshire-based e-commerce expert Tim Gardiner, former Manchester United Marketing Director Peter Draper and fast-food entrepreneur Peter Richards, who wanted to support the Foundation. It is hoped that the event will become a regular fixture in the Manchester sporting calendar.

‘Thanks to everyone who made the night such a huge success and especially to Nick Hancock, team captains Mark and Sam and our panelists Gareth, Don, Danny, Steve and Ashley who all gave their time so generously to support the Foundation,’ said Geoff

‘I would also like to say a massive thank you to JD Sports who sponsored the evening and to all those local companies who bought tables and donated prizes for the auction. Manchester did us proud!’
