Geoff has also roped in a number of his other sporting colleagues to be part of the GTF Green Running Machine at the event, including ex-Tour de France winner Stephen Roche, former Watford Manager, Ady Boothroyd, ex pro-cyclist and Paris Roubaix winner Magnus Backstedt and former England footballer John Salako.

To date over 60 people have signed up for the GTF team.

Runners will also be in with the chance to scoop two Virgin Flights to anywhere in the world which will be awarded to the GTF fundraiser who raises the most money between 1 July and Christmas Eve.

To join the GTF Team, all you need to do is sign up on the event website www.birminghamhalfmarathon.com and select the 'Geoff Thomas Foundation' as your chosen charity.
 
A fundraising pack will then be sent out to help you on your way.
 
There is no minimum amount you have to raise to be part of the team but if you raise just £150 or over you will be sent a GTF T shirt to wear on the day.
