In 24 hours starting at 6am on Saturday, June 6, friends Ben Alexander, Paul McKenzie, Ian Nicholls & Andy Stonley will attempt to climb the three highest peaks in England, Scotland and Wales - Ben Nevis (4,409ft) Scarfell Pike (3,209ft) and Snowdon (3,560ft). The Challenge includes over 30 miles on the mountains and over 500 miles of driving.
Geoff Thomas, who started the GTF after he survived leukaemia, said: “The guys are attempting an incredibly tough challenge and they will need all the spirit, strength and endurance they can muster to get through it. I am so grateful that they are raising funds for the GTF because blood cancer patients in the UK need all the help they can get. I know how hard it is to battle against cancer and the boys should be proud of themselves for having the guts to help people with this terrible illness.”
Team leader Ben Alexander, aged 27, a Senior Recruitment Consultant, from East Grinstead said: “It is a great challenge and a great cause. We are all training hard and thank everybody for their donations”. The other members of the team also from East Grinstead are Paul McKenzie, aged 27, a Bricklayer; Ian Nicholls, aged 27 a Gym Manager and Football Coach and Andy Stonley, aged 34 who works as a Postman.
